Description:
Join us for a chance to see woodcocks performing their flight displays as they enter breeding season. Though generally secretive and elusive birds, they have been reliable here during late winter in recent years, and this is probably the easiest spot to see them. You don’t even need to leave your car – but you should for the full experience! Displays usually begin ~30 minutes after sunset (5:58 PM on 2/28) and usually occur in conjunction with clear skies, minimal wind, and temperatures above freezing. The trip will be canceled if these conditions are not met. Once you turn onto Bauers Farm Road, keep going for approximately 500 feet and park along the road on the right. The main display field will be on the left. Due to popular demand, trips will be offered on both 2/28 and 3/1! RSVP to trip leader.
