Description:
Meet on Red Rd. in front of TreeBaltimore Nursery. The forested natural areas in the north and northeast portions of Druid Hill Park are dominated by American beech trees, a popular tree for many species of birds and mammals that feed on their seeds and leaf buds, and host plant for numerous moth species. A narrow tributary to the Jones Falls winds through the forest stands, providing water resources for wildlife. Proximity to the Maryland Zoo provides opportunities for uncommon non-native plant species to naturalize: keep your eye out for thorny Japanese Angelica, kiwi vine, and even Sichuan pepper growing along the trail!
