The Records Committee updates the official list of birds in Maryland every year. This isn’t a checklist but is a useful guide to the historical records. They also provide a chronology of species additions.

With Maryland’s diverse habitat, birds common in one area may be rare in other regions. The Record Committee updates its list of reviewable birds every year. Please check this list carefully before reporting your sightings. The Committee also reviews reports of rare and unusual subspecies and forms found in Maryland that meet certain criteria.

The MD/DCRC’s abridged version of full MD database contains the basic data fields associated with each report or record. If you would like to see the full database of records, please contact the Committee.
