Safe Skies Maryland and Lights Out Baltimore

One billion birds die every year in window collisions.  Migratory species are often lost prior to reproduction during spring migration, while fledglings may be lost in addition while attempting their first migration in the fall. Populations of neotropical migrants cannot sustain these losses indefinitely. Two Maryland organizations are doing something about this problem. Lights Out Baltimore is encouraging office building owners and tenants to turn the lights out in their glass-exterior building, at least during spring and fall migration seasons. Safe Skies Maryland advocates for bird-safe buildings and infrastructure throughout Maryland.

Both organizations need your help to support their efforts to educate the public and government officials for the need for bird-safe cities and other structures. Please donate to help the birds survive migration!
