2024 MOS BIRD PHOTO CONTEST

What’s New?

In previous years, our bird photo contest was integral part of the Convention. This year it will not be, except that the 3 winners (“Gold, Silver, Bronze”) will be announced and their winning photos unveiled at the Ocean City Convention. All MOS members in good standing are welcome to participate, whether they attend the Convention or not. The photos will be judged by all MOS members in good standing who wish to do so.

Instructions to Photographers

If you enjoy photographing birds, we invite you to enter up to 5 of your best photos.

These photos should have been taken in Maryland during 2023 or 2024 and should not have been awarded a prize in any other competition. The submission site (check the MOS Convention website for link) is now open and will close at 9 P.M., October 15, 2024.

When you access this page you will be prompted to enter information about yourself and about your photos. See below under “Requirements”. The information concerning the photos will be visible to MOS members who want to view and judge the photos but the photographer’s identity will be hidden to all except to the contest coordinator.

The evaluation / judging website of the photos will open at 9 A.M. on October 16, 2024 and close at 9 P.M. on October 29, 2024.

MOS members who want to vote on the photos are asked to consider technical qualities such as sharpness, lighting, and composition, and artistic merit, originality, and character.

Three awards will be given in the form of gift cards of value $500, $300, and $100. Winners will be announced at the Convention dinner on Saturday, November 23. Prints of the 3 winning photos (printed by MOS) will be displayed. After the end of the Convention, the 3 winning photos will be posted on the MOS website until the next Convention.
