Audubon MD-DC’s mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems in the Maryland and DC area, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats. Audubon MD-DC is a partner with MOS in MBCP.

Birdlife International is a global partnership of conservation organizations (NGOs) that strives to conserve birds, their habitats and global biodiversity, working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources. There are 121 BirdLife Partners worldwide – one per country or territory – and growing. They issue periodic reports on the state of birdlife internationally.

Lights Out Baltimore

Lights Out Baltimore is an organization of the Baltimore Bird Club that monitors bird kills due to window strikes in downtown Baltimore.

Lights Out DC is similar to LOB and is part of City Wildlife.

Maryland Biodiversity Project

The Maryland Biodiversity Project (MBP) is cataloging all the living things of Maryland. Their goal is to promote education and conservation by helping to build a vibrant general nature study community. The project was started in June 2012 by Bill Hubick and Jim Brighton. They have already cataloged over 14,000 species, including over 5,000 species with photographs, and feature the work of more than 300 naturalists and photographers. MDBirding is an open group for discussing the topics of birds and birding in Maryland and DC. Discussions range from backyard birds to regional rarities. There are two main communication platforms for MDBirding, the Google Group Email Listserv and the Facebook Group. Read below to figure out main differences between the two groups. We encourage new members to join both groups to really get a sense of what Maryland & DC Birding is all about!

Safe Skies Maryland

Safe Skies Maryland is an initiative to raise awareness in all counties in Maryland about the threats of migratory and resident bird collisions with man-made structures and how we might employ science and technology to solve our conservation needs.

The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy Maryland/DC has helped to protect over 75,000 acres of private and public land across Maryland and the District. TNC owns 31 preserves in the MD-DC area, including Nassawango Creek, Maryland’s largest private nature preserve
