Join Master Bander, Dr. Mark Johnson as he and his team of volunteers capture birds in mist nets to collect data. His capture, mark, recapture station has been in place for over 20 years. Walk the net lanes with the team and watch the whole process. Come when you wish, leave when you want. There’s no start or finish, just merge with the team and follow along! The team hangs out at the Joe Vangrin Memorial Pavilion. Follow Eden Mill Road past the mill. Cross Big Branch. The pavilion is just inside the trailhead. If no one is there when you arrive, just wait a bit. The team might be checking nets. s event is weather dependent. If it looks like rain the team will not band. If you would like to verify if the event is happening, you can call Dr. Johnson at 443.528.0045 after 6:30am. All banding, marking and sampling is being conducted under a federally authorized Bird Banding Permit issued by the US Geological Survey’s Bird Banding Lab.
