The Field List of the Birds of MD, popularly known as the The Yellowbook, (third edition), written by Marshall J. Iliff, Robert F. Ringler and James Stasz, is a prime source of information about species abundance and dates of occurrence, as well as county list data. Although some of the information in this publication has been superseded by information you may find on eBird, many birders still find this legacy publication a useful guide, particularly in the field.

The Yellowbook is out of print; however, besides MOS, you can also download it from Harvard’s Biodiversity Heritage Library.

The 1968 version of the Yellowbook is also available for download.
